💗 PART 1: Winter & Ayurveda
💗 Yes, winter is here… I really like this time of year because it is a great time to rest, reflect, solitude … look inwards. 2020 has been a good year for that as well. I really appreciate 2020 for being able to redirect my energy inwards.
💗 But sometimes the calm, tranquil nature of winter can be depressing, making us feel sluggish, and uninspired.
💗Your climate really impacts your well-being, because every season has it’s own unique traits that will either aggravate or pacify the inner workings of your body.
💗 Moreover, a seasonal routine is key, and will help you in so many ways. Lower your odds of seasonally induced imbalances by revising your diet and lifestyle seasonally.
💗 Let’s explore some Ayurvedic Tips for Winter Wellness …
💗 Winter is Kapha season. There is a strong presence of Vata in the winter as well. This time of year is noted by cold, cloudy days, heavy, wet, and increased internal moisture. These are Kapha dosha qualities, which is why winter is mostly recognized as Kapha season. Additionally, if you live somewhere where it is dry and cold, or if you are a person who feels isolated in the winter, than Vata will be a large factor in your winter season. So, then it will be important to keep the Vata dosha pacified.
💕 Winter Diet & Ayurveda:
Your digestive fire is the strongest in the winter months. You might notice that you crave more food this time of year. If you do, it is because the body needs more fuel to stay warm and healthy. The cold weather pushes the fire principle deep into the core of your body. It ignites the digestive fire. We need a nutritive rich, substantial diet in the colder months. Also, you should focus on a diet pacifying kapha, trying not to increase Vata, or vise versa.
