Basic Ayurvedic Tips For Acid Reflux Part 2

May 3, 2023

🌿 Hello all! It has been a while since the last time I posted! Hope everyone is enjoying the spring sun, and yes summer is right around the corner, which means ….Pitta season is coming.

🌿 Please read my last post on Part 1 on Ayurvedic Tips for Acid reflux first.

🌿 The last post I mentioned that acid reflux according to Ayurveda is due to excess Pitta. But it may also be a sign of a Kapha imbalance as well. Many people have issues with acid reflux, but usually in most cases most acid reflux is caused by insufficient acid production, not excess. Excess Pitta is a sign of high stomach acid, and Kapha indigestion indicates low metabolism and mucous blockage.

🌿 Moreover, when your stomach acid is too low, indigestion arises, and food stagnates. Hence, food that sits too long in the stomach regurgitates. Which is why ingesting antacids may make the problem worse.

🌿 Furthermore, stomach acid functions to increase absorption of iron, and calcium, activate pepsinogen, and slay bacteria in the food we eat.

🌿 Acid production is activated by the release of gastrin, a hormone secreted by the stomach in response to stomach distension, hypercalcemia, partially digested amino acids and proteins in the stomach, and triggers vagus nerve excitation.

🌿 Acid reflux is an indication that the stomach is not able to preform the proper function of accepting and absorbing food and, then moving the food downward.

🌿 Please contact a health care professional when diagnosing acid reflux, because there are several factors that cause acid reflux. Treatment should include, getting to the root causes, repairing digestion, reducing inflammation, redirecting food downwards, and devising an adequate diet plan suitable for you specific constitution/vitiation within the body.

🌿 Thank you for reading on Ayurveda and Acid Reflux Part 2. Stay tuned for Ayurveda and Acid Reflux Part 3!

Thank you
Love & Light 🙏🏽💓
