My Mom’s Summer Cabbages, & My Diet

October 28, 2025

* The picture is my Mom’s summer garden cabbages. 😀 Today, I wanted to share a little about my journey with my diet.
* I am first generation Canadian, and I was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. Growing up, my family was really into our traditional diet, and everything to do with food!

* My Mom and Dad are very keen gardeners, and I am thankful having the privilege as a child to enjoy gardening, plus learn how to cook!

* Growing up in Calgary, we were very entrenched in our traditional food, but you can not help but to meld into cultural assimilation, and adopt a little more of a western diet. After all, we should all share our dysfunctions right? Lol.

* Moreover, when I was in my 20s, I developed Ankylosing spondylitis, and a large part of it, not the whole picture, was because of my diet. I veered off my traditional diet for a while, and almost died! Lol.

* Even though you might be eating “healthy,” food. For example, being vegan, vegetarian, may not be as healthy as some people think. Just because you are eating vegetables, grain, and “healthy whole foods,” does not mean that you are eating correctly. The wrong food combinations can give you autoimmune disorders like arthritis.

* According to Ayurveda, eating meat for some body types is very medicinal. You have to figure out the correct grains, vegetables, fruits, and combinations for each individual.

* As an Ayurvedic Doctor, when I see a lot of these fad diets, fruit diet, vegan, vegetarian, meat diet, no dairy, no gluten etc…it does not make sense. Our bodies all have a unique genetic blueprint, it all depends on your body type, and the current imbalances you are going through to match your dietary needs!

* Stay tuned for more. Thank you.
