Basic Ayurvedic Tips On Winter Exercise

December 26, 2024

Hello 👋🏾 ✨Hope everyone is doing well.

Please read some basic Ayurvedic tips for exercising in the winter below.

Regular exercise is essential to support your mental and physical health. The best time to exercise is in the morning, 6 – 10 am, or if that does not work, then 6 – 10 pm. Why? These times are governed by Kapha which help strengthen, ground, and stabilize, which counteract the innate mobility and lightness of the physical activity.

Moreover, if Kapha is dominant in the atmosphere, with rain, snow, heavy, cloudy weather then you can increase the intensity and time of your workout. If Vata is more dominant, in the atmosphere, with cold, dry weather, then you can focus on more gentle, slow, and strengthening exercises.

Honour and listen to your body’s needs. For example, if you are feeling sluggish and heavy, more Kapha energy, then motivate and push yourself to jog, hike, bike ride, or vigorous yoga. If you are feeling drained, and fatigued, then focus on vata balancing exercises such as, gentle yoga, or walking.

Thank you for tuning in today. Share some personal stories of what your winter exercise routine looks like in the comments section. Take care. : )
