Basic Ayurvedic Tips For Acid Reflux Part 1

January 9, 2023

🔥Acid reflux is caused by the relaxation or weakness in the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) valve, between the stomach and the LES. When the valve between the stomach and esophagus opens for too long, it permits acid in the stomach to flow back into the esophagus.

🔥Ayurvedic tips to help with acid reflux:

🔥The following foods create (ama) toxins in the body which results in acid reflux. Avoid junk food, processed meat, frozen foods, fermented foods, and curd.

🔥Avoid excessive tea, coffee, and carbonated or alcoholic drinks.

🔥Avoid sour, salty, and spicy foods, oily and rich gravies.

🔥Focus on eating on time, and avoid erratic eating habits. Eat meals in a relaxed environment.

🔥Avoid cold drinks, drink room temperature fluids. Sipping warm water during meals will help with digestion and absorption of food.

🔥Eat meals in small proportions, do not overeat. Avoid snacking, eat when you are hungry.

🔥Incorporate herbs into your diet like cumin, fennel, coriander, turmeric, cardamon, basil, hing (asafetida).

🔥Daily, proper exercise, and physical activity is good according to your prakruti and vikruti.

🔥Keep your head elevated with a good pillow while sleeping.

🔥Lastly, with clients I focus on ingesting foods that are not contradicting in nature, and against your Prakruti. Looking at the unique body type of each individual, while examining the vikruti (current bodily imbalances). Focus on eating foods that are suited for your body and lifestyle. In Ayurveda, the acid reflux is an aggravation or imbalance of the Pitta dosha.

Thank you.🙏🏽💛
