Ayurveda – General Guidelines For Spring Foods

April 1, 2021

🌿Part 4: General Guidelines for Springtime Foods to Avoid or Minimize

🌿Try your best and avoid the following foods: sweets, soy products, nuts, fast foods, lots of bread, and chilled, refrigerated foods particularly eaten cold.

  • Slowly reduce intake of oily, heavy, or fried foods.
  • If you can, exclude popsicles, chilled/ iced drinks, and ice cream.
  • Reduce ghee and oil intake, you can substitute with water to prevent sticking.
  • If you eat less, pork, beef, duck, seafood, your body may feel lighter, and energized.
  • Reduce sour, and heavy fruits such as: melons, coconuts, oranges, bananas, figs, pineapples, and dates.
  • Avoid watery, or heavy vegetables such as: zucchini, sweet potatoes, squash, cucumber, avocado.
  • Try your best to avoid over eating or snacking between meals, and reduce emphasis on sweet, sour, and salty tastes.
  • Minimize dairy, especially in the morning. Almond or rice milk are great substitutes. If you do drink cow’s milk, heat it first, drink it warm with a bit of ginger, or turmeric to help with digestion, and congestion.

🌿Remember this is a GENERAL GUIDELINE, it also depends on your Prakruti, and current bodily imbalances. Be mindful of the needs of your particular consitution.

💓 Thank you 💓
