🌿PART 3 of Ayurveda – General Winter Food Guidelines:🌿
Legumes to Favour: 🥣🍽
Urad dhal, Toor dhal, tofu, tempeh, mung beans, lentil (red and brown), miso, and navy beans. 🥗🍜
Vegetables to Favour: 🍆🌽🍄🌶🥕 Winter squash, rutabaga, potatoes, okra, cooked greens, garlic, eggplant, corn, chilies, asparagus, Brussels sprouts, carrots, mushrooms, turnips, cooked spinach, leeks + onions, green beans, and beets.
Dairy to Favour: 🧀🥛
Sour cream, cottage cheese, butter, soft cheeses, not cold goat milk, and not cold cow’s milk.
Nuts & Seeds to Favour: 🥜
Pumpkin seeds, walnuts, pine nuts, almonds, cashews, hazelnuts, pecans, pistachios, macadamia nuts, peanuts, Brazil nuts, and sunflower seeds.
Oils to Favour: 🍱 🍽
Mustard oil, Ghee, olive oil, sesame oil, corn oil, almond oil, and flaxseed oil.
Sweeteners to Favour: 🍯
Molasses, Jaggary, and Honey.
🌶 Favour all spices! Helps ignite the digestive fire!🌶
Meats & Animal Products to Favour (If you eat): 🍤🥚🥘 Venison, Freshwater fish, poultry + eggs, and shrimp.
💙 Reduce or avoid frozen foods, and cold/damp or really oily, sweet, and heavy foods! If you are prone to Kapha imbalances, then you might want to try a a one-day juice or water fast. Also, the fall and winter are good times to do cleanses.
